Pet first aid courses

Dog Care Course

As a dog owner prevention of accidents is probably high on your list of importance. The correct care for your dog can prevent it from becoming ill or getting injured. This course covers things you need to think about when you get a dog or puppy.  Having a dog as a family member will bring many rewards, but there are a few things you can learn to make their lives safer and more enjoyable.

This qualification is valid for 3 years and you will receive a certificate on completion of the course.

Cat Care Course

Prevention of accidents is important to any cat lover and the correct care for your cat can prevent it from becoming ill or getting hurt. This course covers different things you need to think about when you get a cat or kitten.  It highlights important considerations when choosing a cat or kitten and look at the pedigree cat side so that when you choose, you know what questions to ask. We also cover the care you give once you have a cat or kitten.

This qualification is valid for 3 years and you receive a certificate on completion of the course.

Canine First Aid Level 2 (VTQ)

This course is similar to Pet First Aid, but it is designed for people who just want a course that only covers dogs.  It is ideal for dog owners or dog professionals who want to understand basic first aid for dogs and it will give you the skills to assist them and prevent them from getting worse before your vet gives professional help. The certificate is valid for three years.

Pet First Aid Level 2 (VTQ)

With more and more people owning dogs people have started to think about first aid for their pets. Just like humans pets have accidents and knowing what to do should the worst happen is important to help preserve your pets life and aid recovery. Pet first aid is not aimed to replace veterinary care but it will help you to recognise an emergency, calm your pet and reduce the risks of delayed treatment.

Pet first aid is taught in a fun and informative way and will give you the skills to deal with a pet emergency should it arise.

This course is ideal for pet owners or pet professionals. It covers the main first aid subjects for Dogs and Cats but this information is also suitable for most other animals. Understanding basic first aid for your pet will give you the skills to assist them and prevent them from getting worse before professional help is given by your vet.

Advanced Pet First Aid Level 3 (VTQ)

Advanced pet first aid level 3 (VTQ) covers much more details about the different injuries and illnesses that can affect dogs and cats. The course has been designed to give the pet owner or pet professional much more information in order to be able to detect early when something is wrong and give the appropriate care.

The course also covers the anatomy and physiology of animals and different first aid treatments that are available.  Although the treatment is basically the same between dogs and cats, the advanced course has a dedicated section to cats. This course can be completed at home online and in a classroom.

As an online course - With this, you work through the course over 6 hours and learn from the videos but there is no practical module.  You would then complete a practical module locally with one of myself or another approved instructors.

As a blended course - Blended training is where you complete the online module (6 hours) and a practical module (approx 6 hours) locally with an approved instructor where you also cover practical subjects to gain the full qualification certificate. .

How many walks do you do a day?

I do 2 walks, 1 in the morning and one at lunchtime.

My dog has to be lead walked is that OK?

Yes, that's absolutely fine, we are happy to walk dogs on a lead if requested.

My dog is old/slow how would you cater for them?

We walk dogs of all speeds and age, we would always walk at the slowest dogs speed and ensure a flat walk if requested. I have a 12 year old Labrador who plods whilst my Sprocker happily 'runs rings around us'.
